AP Mitchell has been commissioned to replace an aged and failed cast iron boiler located in the basement of the West Annex at Warrington Town Hall. Due to the historic nature of the building, the project requires a carefully designed solution that seamlessly integrates with the existing heating distribution system while preserving the building’s aesthetic and architectural integrity.
Hamworthy Heating has designed a modern, high-efficiency cast aluminium boiler system tailored to fit within the constraints of the existing infrastructure. This new system has been specifically engineered to work with the complex flue routing requirements of the site, ensuring optimal performance while adhering to heritage preservation guidelines.
As part of the installation, we will be installing the new boiler and fabricating bespoke pipework to connect it seamlessly to the current heating distribution system. Additionally, to maintain the visual integrity of this listed building, we will be guiding a new flue section down the existing chimney, ensuring that no external alterations are made to the structure.
This project represents a crucial step in modernizing the heating system at Warrington Town Hall, improving efficiency, reliability, and sustainability while respecting the building’s historical significance.
